I have been using the outside of the back wall of my shed to store rakes, shovels, and the like. The inexpensive plastic rail I had purchased many years ago when I built the shed had finally gotten brittle and broke in several places. I found some over-center latches that were designed to hold handles up to 1 5/8 diameter, and thought I’d give them a try.
The shed is sided with T1-11 panels, so I picked up a piece of 4” trim to mount the latches to and screwed it into the back wall, and started placing tools.

I am very pleased with how it came out. The latches hold each handle securely and are easy to release.

These latches are not super cheap at about $5.00 each, but I think they will be worth it. Hopefully they last as long as what I had previously.
